A goal after four minutes from Ekow Owusu-Boakye, his first for the club, gave Balham just the start they craved for in this crucial game between the bottom two clubs in the league table. They held the lead, deservedly, until midway into the second half when possession was needlessly lost, allowing the visitors an unwarranted attack which they took full advantage of to draw level. With both sides needing a win the game opened up and it could have gone either way. The points were decided though in added on time, when Haydn Read denied Walton with a staggering close range double save. Less than a minute later the ball arrived at the feet of Balham striker, James Adebayo, who burst into opposition’s box and fired a rocket of a shot into the top corner of the net. Needless to say there were wild celebrations from the home team, bench and supporters. It was tough on the visitors who, but for Read’s brilliance, may have snatched all three points but, that, as they say, is football. It’s never over ’til it’s over.
