Balham came away from Abbey Ranger’s Addlestone Moor ground with a satisfactory point however a tinge of frustration lingered that it wasn’t all three. Twice the boys from SW12 took the lead but twice they were pegged back. Anis Nuur scored a sublime free kick to open the scoring but Abbey got an equaliser from a set piece, against the run of play, close to half time. It looked as if that would be that for the forty-five but James Gallagher had other ideas and pushing forward he regained the lead for Balham on the stoke of half time. The home side upped the ante after the break but Balham dug in and looked equally dangerous on the break. It was Abbey though who found the back of the net, after seventy minutes, a fine header levelling the score. Both sides then had chances to win the game and based on the second half a draw was possibly a fair result. Balham however will look back thinking that overall they were the better side and on most other days would have made it count.
