Firsts v Knaphill 2-1

Winning any game feels good but when you come back from being 1-0 down with the game about to enter added on time, to win 2-1, it feels absolutely fantastic. That’s how it was for Balham away to Knaphill, who were unbeaten in their previous six games. Balham started the game brightly and although Knaphill offered the occasional threat, the away team dominated possession and created the best chances. Failing to take any however, more often than not, proves costly and when Knaphill took the lead in the last third of the game, thanks to a swift counter attack, doom and gloom could have set in. Credit must go to the Balham squad though, led superbly by skipper, Jake Henry. They refused to accept that they weren’t going to get something from the game and thanks to super subs, Khalid Savage and Anis Nuur, who both came on in the dying embers of the match, they not only got something but ended up getting everything.
