FIRSTS v Thamesmead Town 0-2

It was the first twenty minutes that cost Balham their place in The FA Cup for this season, their first in the competition. They were bullied and bossed early on by an experienced, well drilled, Thamesmead Town, who scored twice to knock the stuffing out of the home side. Having recovered from the shock of being behind in a game for the first time this season Balham took the game to the Mead and were unlucky not to halve the arrears before half time. They kept pushing and probing in the second half but this was a day when they weren’t clinical in the final third of the pitch and as such they couldn’t recover before the sands of time ran out.
