FIRSTS v Walton & Hersham 3-2

For all but the last ten minutes of this game Balham were in total control, with their young keeper, Kamal Nehaili, whose distribution was excellent, not having a save to make. They were three goals to the good thanks to an outstanding team goal finished with aplomb by James Gallagher and two more for Tino Carpene, who has scored 7 times in his first 5 games for the club. An extremely harsh penalty gave the bedraggled home side a life line however and a wonder strike, a couple of minutes later, made it a backs to the wall, nerve jangling finish. Unlike last season though, when Balham conceded in the 95th minute to make it a 3-3 draw, this time they hung on to bag a well deserved three points, which puts them top of the CCL Premier Division table for the first time in their history.
