Having got off to a poor start, conceding after five minutes, Balham responded superbly and gradually took control of this game against the confirmed CCL Champions, Westfield FC, who before last night had only lost once at home in the league all season. Despite playing on a very uneven surface Balham popped the ball about with aplomb and defended well when needed. They got their opening goal just before half time when Khalid Savage fizzed in a hard low cross from the left flank which goal machine, Ibrahim Olutade, buried. Encouraged by their performance and having drawn level Balham pushed on in the second half. Although keeper, Haydn Read, had a couple of crosses to deal with and had to save well towards the end of the game they restricted the home side to a paucity of opportunities. The winning goal came once again from Olutade, who put the finishing touch to a well worked, beautifully crafted goal.
