This was another game, like many previous ones throughout this season’s campaign, that ended in tragedy. Having had to play the last fifteen minutes with ten men after striker, Jack Robinson, received what looked like a ridiculously harsh second yellow, Balham conceded in the last minute of the game, having spurned a couple of chances to take a very late lead themselves. Whilst they’d arrived in West London desperately looking for and needing all three points, the two that were snatched away, cruelly, at the death, could prove vital. Balham hadn’t played well throughout but they were still right in the game late on, after Tomasz Wocial’s first half goal had cancelled out Hanworth Villa’s opener. It looked to all intents and purposes as though they’d see things out, despite being a player lite, but that was before the sting in the tail, the pain of which, no matter how much ointment was applied, could not be quelled.
