Firsts v Sutton Common Rovers 1-0

Balham followed up their impressive performance and first league win against Banstead, two days later, with an equally impressive showing on the 3g pitch at Sutton Utd against fellow CCL Prem’ side, Sutton Common Rovers. The noon kick off on Bank Holiday Monday, in sweltering heat, more akin to Seville than Sutton, was draining for both teams, however it was Balham who coped better. A solid, disciplined, professional performance from beginning to end saw them prosper thanks to another Ibrahim Olutade strike in the second half. The young striker has scored one in each of Balham’s five league games to date and is looking razor sharp. The most pleasing aspect of this victory though was the defensive organisation and resilience which resulted in another clean sheet to follow on from the one on Saturday.
