Once again Balham played some very good football on a soggy uneven pitch. Once again though they came away with nothing to show for it. A good start was scuppered when a counter attack goal was conceded midway through the first half. Tomasz Wocial levelled proceedings though with a fearsome free kick immediately after the break. Balham then upped the ante and pinned Vale back. It looked to be only a matter of time before they’d take the lead, but, as ever, in an ever surprising world, it was the home side who went ahead for a second time, catching their visitors out on a breakaway. Even though time was ebbing away Balham came back again and almost drew level, however the much desired equaliser didn’t arrive and as such a crestfallen away team trudged off the pitch when the man in black drew the final curtains.
