This was not the performance or result Balham were looking for in their first game in the CCL Premier Division. A horrendous start saw them concede two goals in the first ten minutes. They gradually recovered from the early double blow and once they got going were the better side, playing the better football, against a team who quite naturally wanted to shut up shop and go home with the points in the bag. A fine volleyed first time finish from Ibrahim Olutade, from a sweet Michael McConnell cross, brought Balham right back into the game and when the half time whistle blew they were well on top. They continued to dominate after the break, without ever finding their best form, but a harshly awarded free kick which was dispatched past Balham keeper, Haydn Read, was a bitter pill to swallow and although they huffed and puffed all the way to the end, the goals required proved elusive.
