Although a draw away to high flying Walton & Hersham would seem to be a good result this was a game that Balham were very frustratingly a few seconds away from winning. Played on the 3g pitch at Walton Casuals, where W&H are ground sharing, it was a rip roaring game full of attacking intent. Balham started superbly and took a very early lead when Arsen Ujkaj scored from close range. The lead was extended later in the half when skipper Grant Goodband prodded the ball home from close in again. A 2-0 half time lead, whilst gratefully received, flattered the visitors slightly in what had been a very even game. Not long into the second half though the score line was level thanks to the home side starting after the break much as Balham had at the first whistle. It looked at that point as though W&H might go on to claim victory but Balham showed great determination and resolve and retook the lead when Ibrahim Olutade came up with a smart finish midway through the half. The game was then end to end until the finish. With the final whistle imminent it looked as though Balham had done enough to claim a memorable victory but an unlucky goal conceded well into injury time meant that rather than leave with all three points Balham had to settle for hitting the road with one.
