Under 18 v Raynes Park Vale 4-6

SURREY YOUTH FLOODLIT MIDWEEK CUP

It seemed incredibly unlikely that there would be another 6-5 scoreline in this Under 18 encounter at Raynes Park Vale, in the Surrey Youth Floodlit Midweek Cup, which was what happened only a few weeks before in the league. Believe it or not though, these two sides, red hot in attack but porous in defence, almost did it again. Vale came out of the blocks super fast and before anyone had time to blink were two goals to the good. Balham then came back however and at half time the score was 4-4. Dominic Simpson-Last and Andre Cruz Rosa were the away team’s goalscorers, with a brace each. The second half was a slightly more muted affair although a number of chances were still created by both teams. This time the game finished 6-4 to RPV, who claimed victory thanks to a dubious penalty and an unfortunate own goal. It seems unbelievable that Balham have scored nine goals in two games at this ground but have come away with nothing to show for it but, no matter how many you score, if you concede even more, you are heading for probable frustration and disappointment.
