Balham twice had the lead against top of the table Raynes Park Vale but couldn’t quite get over the line to secure all three points. A draw, in this enthralling game, between two very good sides, was probably a fair result, however when you’ve led twice it’s always frustrating to get pegged back. A large part of the game was played 10v10 after one player from each team was sent off for fighting in the first half. Balham took the lead when Javier Aguilera, who soon after saw red, tucked home a through ball from Sam Arbuckle, with poise and panache. It was Arbuckle who drilled home Balham’s second with fifteen minutes to go, after Vale had equalised soon after the break. A slightly unfortunate ricochet though presented Vale with the chance to equalise late on, which was frustrating for the home side who for the most part had defended very well.
