Youth v Lewisham Borough 1-0

Another much changed Balham team, with two players making their full Youth team debuts, played excellently on a freezing cold night at The Wibbandune, to edge a tight league game against Lewisham Borough. Under 16 player, Jude Le Net, slotted in seamlessly alongside centre back and skipper, Anthony Thompson, who was outstanding again, as he has been in every game this season to date. Although they didn’t find the net in the first half Balham played some nice football and were unlucky to go in at the break on level terms. Patience was the order of the night and it paid off when the second debutant, Eoin O’Kelly, popped up in the Lewisham Borough box, to tuck home the only goal of the game. A third debutant, Tom Appleton, came off the bench, with ten minutes to go, on what was a satisfying night for Balham, which further demonstrated that there is strength in depth in the current Youth team squad.
