We remain in unfamiliar territory in the bottom three as I write. It’s the first time we’ve witnessed this as a club and it’s not a nice feeling at all. The prospect of relegation is a frightening one but the reality is that it’s staring us slap bang in the face. There are many reasons why we are where we are but every single one of them is immaterial at present. All that matters is how we respond. We reacted very well at Knaphill, where we won 2-0, but followed that up with an under par performance at AFC Hayes, losing 3-1. By the time you read this we’ll have played both Guildford City and Badshot Lea. Whatever happens in both games this afternoon’s encounter against Walton & Hersham, who we welcome to The Wibbandune, is of vital importance. Here’s hoping that we can get what we need. One thing’s for sure, if we don’t, it won’t be for want of trying.
