THE THOUGHTS OF CHAIRMAN GREG (10-10-18)

Sergio-Perez-0001

We are now well into the season with all 23 teams up and running. Our new U7s, coached and managed by senior players, Julian Fuller and Josh Fitzgerald-Smith, have started very promisingly, as have our new U12 Panthers and 1st Year SFX College team. We are delighted to have added a second girls team this season and hope to expand each year until we reach a point, as with our boys teams, where we have a direct pathway from Under 7 to our Senior Teams.

We have a number of new coaches on our roster this season both from the UK and other spots around the globe. They include our first Kiwi, our first Ecuadorian and a Mexican former player, Sergio Perez, who represented his country three times at international level and played against Chelsea in the World Club Championship.

As a club we continue aiming to be as high achieving as possible, but looking at long term player development rather than focusing solely on the here and now. Technical development and game intelligence remain the key components of our philosophy and our brand of high tempo possession based football, trying to bring a bit of Barcelona to Balham, should be in evidence every time one of our teams is in action. Our squads are very full but we are always interested in hearing from any talented players who are keen to become part of our set up. If you want to make enquiries then please email the club at info@balhamfc.com We will be having trials for all age groups, as usual, in May/June next year.
